VDA– The Association for Germany Abroad was founded in 1908 and undertook the task of keeping Germans living beyond the frontiers of the Reich in touch with their home¬land through schools, kindergartens, libraries, and cultural organizations. No political or denominational objectives were involved. In 1932 the VDA had more than 5,000 groups.
